Brazil: the results of the 7th session of the International Humor Exhibition of Paraguaçu Paulista are announced, after a halt of 2 years. The participation was open to all cartoonists from all over the world, provided their works are not published before shutting the door to the participation on December 2, 2013.
The contest was divided into 3 categories, the first category was for a free cartoons, the second one was for caricatures, and the third one was for the cartoons in a specific topic defined in this session as "Idolatry" which means the worship of power, money, self, fame, technology, etc.
The first three awards were granted to a number of Brazilian cartoonists, in addition to other cartoonists from Cuba, Colombia and Iran. Additionally, three cartoonists were granted honorary mentions in each category, including a honorary mention given to the Sudanese cartoonist Elrayah Ombaddi in free cartoons category.
The first cash award in each category was BRL 2000, which equals about U.S. $ 830, the second one was BRL 1000, and the third one was BRL 500.
Although the terms of participation provide that the cartoons should not be published or awarded previously, it was remarkable that the third award in free cartoons category assumed by the Colombian cartoonist RAÚL FERNANDO ZULETA was about a cartoon that has already been awarded in an Iranian contest held in 2012; 4th International Fadjr Cartoon & Caricature Contest – 2012.
