In the period from January 25th till March 7th, 2014, Cartooning For Peace Organization will hold its exhibition for this year, under the title of "Cartooning For Peace - Plantu", where Plantu is a French cartoonist, the organization's founder and the event organizer.
A number of cartoonists from around the globe will attend the exhibition, including the Portuguese cartoonist Cristina Sampaio, Damien Glez from Burkina Faso, the Mexican cartoonist Angel Boligán, the Belgian cartoonist Cécile Bertrand, along with the French cartoonist Plantu, in addition to the participation of a number of cartoonists through their works, including the Algerian cartoonist Ali Delam, and the Iranian cartoonist Firoozeh Mozaffari.
The topic of this year's exhibition is energy, its sources and methods of use, accompanied by an exhibition for the cartoons of the French cartoonist Plantu over the red line in the relationship between art and society. The cartoonists will participate in a number of activities such as discussions with economists and local institutions over energy, technology and the environment.
According to TV France 3, the exhibition will raise several questions about the ways to access energy in the world. According to the organizers, Krusoh city is chosen due to its history as a city whose economic activity was changed from mining to advanced institutions in energy technologies.
Cartooning For Peace Exhibition organizer was founded in 2006 at the initiative by the French cartoonist Plantu and with the support of the Secretary-General of the United Nations at the time, Kofi Annan, in response to the events and reactions that accompanied the publication of the Prophet Mohamed cartoons, and after a seminar at the United Nations Office in New York, under the title of "Forget About Intolerance", attended by 12 cartoonists from a number of countries around the globe, including the Belgian-Israeli cartoonist Michel Kishka and the Palestinian cartoonist Bahaa Bukhari, where Kofi Annan said "Press cartoons make us laugh. Without it, our lives would be very sad. But it is also a serious thing: they have the power to inform, but also to offend."
The Organization comprises many cartoonists from around the globe, where it grants an annual award "Honoré Daumier" for the most talented cartoonists, taking into account the situation of the country where they work. In 2012, the Tunisian cartoonist Nadia Khairi has been granted the award for her cartoons titled "Weili Min Tunis!", in English "Woe from Tunisia!", which are several cartoons over the most important stages of the Tunisian Revolution on a daily basis.
