Syrian cartoonist Wissam Asaad assumes the first prize in an international contest in Mexico

First Prize: Wissam Asaad - Syria

Syrian cartoonist Wissam Asaad assumes the first prize in the 2nd International Cartoon Contest Sinaloa in Mexico, which was about the subject of immigration. 519 cartoonists from 68 countries around the world have participated in the contest, including 13 Arab cartoonists.
The number of contributions reached 1043 cartoons, where the Iranian cartoonist Mohammadreza BABAEI assumed the second post, and the third post went to the Mexican cartoonist Dario Castillejos. In addition, the Syrian cartoonist Hassan Ismail received one of the ten honourable mention  awards.
The value of the first prize amounted USD 2000, where the total of all prizes amounted USD 4500.
Contest's arbitration jury included: the journalist Rafael PINEDA, the cartoonist Armando Gamez, and Ricardo Sánchez Bobadilla.
